Former Pro Morteza Ebrahimi Named Head Coach of Charlottetowne Hops FC

Brand new soccer club Charlottetowne Hops FC have announced Morteza Ebrahimi as head coach for their inaugural season to kick off in May as part of the nationwide NPSL.

Morteza played for his native Iran’s U17, U19, and U23 national teams while earning a bachelor’s degree in physical education, A pro career of over 15 years was followed by three years as an assistant coach for a first-division pro team. Morteza began the US Soccer coaching education courses when he, his wife, and son moved to Charlotte five years ago. After earning his US Soccer C and B badges, Morteza is now completing his A License. Morteza also coaches for Charlotte Soccer Academy.

"It’s a big honor to be named head coach in the new club’s first season. I am excited about utilizing my past experiences as a former pro and national team player to mentor players that aim to become professionals. And it will be amazing to bring the guys together for a style of play, match day environment, and winning ways that our fans will take pride in. Can’t wait to see everyone this summer - Go Hops FC!”

Club CoFounder Matt Spear mentions "As we evaluated coaching prospects, we were drawn to Morteza’s pro background as it’s important that our players can learn from someone who’s competed at a high level. Plus he has a growth mindset and is extremely focused on learning and teaching - his current US Soccer A License program is very rigorous. Plus soccer is the most international sport and it’s wonderful to blend Morteza’s heritage into our staff."

Stay tuned for the rest of the coaching staff to be announced very soon. The club will hold an Open Tryout from 5-7 pm on March 5th at the CSA OrthoCarolina Sportsplex. Register at https://www.charlottetownehops.com/tryouts.
